Sam Weller is a British designer. With a background in Industrial Design and Engineering, Sam went on to study at the Royal College of Art in London, graduating in 2012 with a Master of Arts in Design Products.

He later joined a small London based workshop space to begin cultivating his own ideas and developments. Sam has studied, worked and lived around the world, in London, San Francisco and Hong Kong. He resides now in Copenhagen, working as the head of lighting development for Danish brand HAY.

Sam’s own design work aims to be timeless, honest and intuitive to use, focusing on a pared-back aesthetic that reflects a given products material selection and function. He has collaborated with and had his designs produced by such brands as Yamaha, Fendi, HAY and AHEC amongst others.

Sam has been a guest tutor and run design workshops at such institutions as The Royal Danish Academy for Architecture, Design and Conservation in Copenhagen Denmark (KADK), Brunel University of West London UK, Sheffield Hallam University UK and the National Taiwan University for Science and Technology in Taipei Taiwan (NTUST).

Sam is passionate about design, its history and how it influences our everyday life. He has on occasion been invited to talk and debate design and the process of how new ideas become commercial products.

Sam has experience in manufacturing, from small-scale craft based workshop spaces to larger mass production facilities, forging a close relationship with makers and industry has played a key role in shaping his design work as well as his knowledge of materials and processes.
